I wanted to shed some light on the hobby that adorns the walls of the shop . Although the pieces rotate in + out, you are sure to see a variety of critters. Whether they tickle your brain with curiosity or give you the heebee jeebees, I have GREAT news for you… they are all sustainably sourced (and deceased) so you can admire them comfortably.
I have always been fascinated by death and biology, as a young lad my parents would let me explore the natural world and be a part of the circle of life when they would go hunting. My journey started with bone cleaning and foraging, and has since expanded into bug pinning, small mammal taxidermy, and preservation work of all kinds (within the limits of my space and my extremely curious cat). What draws me in most is the care involved. Honoring these creatures by paying close attention to every detail of the process and the lives they once lived.
Grief and death exist all around us. Sometimes quietly, sometimes in ways that stay with us forever. I think we often avoid reflecting on what they truly mean to us, and this practice has given me space to do exactly that. In the constant chaos of city life, working with these beautiful critters helps keep me connected to nature, spirituality, and the reality that life and death are deeply intertwined.
