$85-3 horned rhinocerous beetle, hand painted background

This was one of the first pieces I ever made(2023) and it has jumped between markets and my walls at home since. I wanted to create a design that would showcase through the expanded wings and create a strong contrast from the warm tones of the beetle itself.

#2

$80-female Goliath beetle + flower chaser beetle

Both Beetles stem from the same order, Coleoptera, but have very distinct appearance differences.

#3

$90-common cicada, Jungle queen butterfly, and BC beetles

I was inspired by the rotting colours in this photograph and chose insects that either complimented the colours or emphasized the textures.

#4

$80-King Swallowtail butterfly, local honeybee, hand dried citrus, and preserved assorted floral

This piece was inspired by cottagecore and summer. I made it with the focus being centered around yellows/oranges (literally) and natural texture. If you like something that feels like it belongs in the woods when the morning light is shining softly through the branches and insects are buzzing around welcoming the breathe of the day, then this is for you.

#5

$100-3 Morpho Butterfly (smallest species)

Vintage Playboy background. The delicateness of the butterflies reminded me of feminine energy and curves similar to the details behind them. The critters were very difficult to work with and a teaching moment for myself so they are far from perfect but like every piece that is part of the beauty of it.

$15 each - deer vertebrae and unknown jaw bones

Left: Deer Vertebrae, naturally sourced. On glossy black panel with gold accent.

Right: Jaw bones (unknown species), naturally sourced. Glossy sparkle panel, both jaw bones painted gold.

#7

$110-xixuthrus lunicolis (long horned beetle)

Simple and straightforward, I wanted this critter to have the spotlight all on itself. It looks like a lil' alien when you're up close and as a rare specimen, this one is a collection favourite.

$300-red kneed tarantula, Madagascar sunset moth, 3xdragonfly, on preserved floral in a vintage bubble frame

This piece is a display of the circle of life. The tarantula creeps towards the moth on the bed of preserved florals. The sunset moth stands out brightly compared to the rest as a focal point to the piece. The dragonflies lie there as prior victims to the tarantula.
